Henk van Wijnen-Swarttouw
Henk van Wijnen-Swarttouw is a company doctor and self-made man in his late forties. His father is a famous ‘port baron’ of the old school. When Henk his accumulated business empire is under heavy pressure to bear against the current of his father and his Oldboy’s network friends, while his daughter plunges wholeheartedly on her art projects, he submerges into Rotterdam’s street life.

Julia
Julia is the eighteen-year-old daughter of Henk. She tries to find her own identity after earning her high school diploma by creating art and live independently. During her exploration she falls in love with El Bachir, a Moroccan guy who is studying to be an accountant.

Cor Figee
Cor Figee is a hardworking middle-aged laborer. While the relationship with his wife becomes impossible and his son Daan is struggling, Cor Figee is working even harder to save the company. He is afraid that the Netherlands will perish in poverty and decay.

El Bachir is a second generation Moroccan Dutchman who gets romantically entangled with Julia. Daan is the eleven-year-old son of Cor Figee, soccer is his passion. Edwin is a private detective and crime fighter and works independently with the latest spy software. Jan is a born entrepreneur and now retired: he sold his business. Monique is the wife of Henk and currently lives in Brazil. The German psychiatrist Von Stürmer is invoked to assist Henk. His assistant, fraulein van Zanten, is an apprentice psychiatrist and graduate psychologist.
